Artist Statement
In this assignment, we brought items of varying textures and thicknesses to arrange into patterns or images. We then brought these items and scanned them onto paper using light. After developing the paper with a number of fluids, the sheet took on a white cast, where the impressions of the items had been. I used a miniature bust of a roman emperor and a pack of detachable circle magnets to shape my images, which ended up creating a streaking effect on the marble. I initially had some trouble, as the darkness made it hard to see the actual image. I enjoyed using different materials, as the different textures become very pronounced and interesting on the final paper.
