Artist Statement
The concept behind this car is the fusion of Barbie-glamour and a modern day sports car. Inspired by Barbie’s world of smooth, glossy surfaces and curated perfection, the car embraces softness without losing its aerodynamic sharpness. The low height and elongated silhouette reference classic convertible proportions, but are reworked to feel sleeker and more futuristic. I wanted the car to evoke the feeling of a dream accessory brought into full scale. As Barbie was launched in 1959, the title references to the iconic toy and the year it was introduced, hence 'B59.'
