Artist Statement
In my home, we have always had a stool next to our door meant for my parents to sit down while putting their shoes on. However, my parents have recently been complaining about how the stool is too low, making standing up from the stool really difficult. Therefore, I wanted to make a chair serving the only function of allowing my parents to put their shoes on more conviniently than the last stool. As a result, I created my chair with a platform that can be raise up to the middle of the chair, allowing my parents to put their foot up onto the platform everytime they are putting their shoes on so they wouldn't have to bend down all the way. I also made this chair very simplistic to match with the simplistic style of my living room, hoping it can blend in well.
Through this project, I learned how to use Rhino in terms of designing a less organic project , along with how to problem solve when creating an actual product because I faced many issues when creating the chair in real life, yet I was able to find different methods, such as using wood putty, to overcome those obstacles and end up with my envisioned product.
