Artist Statement
For the exterior of my building, I took inspiration from the design I found of a sleek modern house that I felt looked both aesthetically pleasing and space-efficient, allowing for both a house with both a better appearance and optimized space utilization for the placement of furniture. Using that building as an initial point of inspiration, I slowly built on it more as I shaped the building to look less and less like the picture I had initially taken inspiration from and more and more like the vision of the ideal house that I had in my own mind, eventually resulting in the structure that I have now. I also eventually chose to make my walls out of a white concrete, giving the building both structural stability while maintaining a clean, sleek look. For my interior, I partially took inspiration from pictures of building interiors I found online while combining it with the interiors of the house I currently live in as well as those I have lived in in the past. For the setting of my project, I chose a grassy hill to place my building in order to create a natural atmosphere that both allows for a pleasant environment when exiting the house to go for a walk and a serene environment when looking out through the window when relaxing at home.
