Artist Statement
For my two point perspective project, I created a simple depiction of a small city block with a hospital in the forefront. In the sky float two solitary clouds with light shading upon them in a gradient of decreased opacity toward the direction that the sun casts light from, that being the top right corner of my work. I also further expressed the effect of the sun on the shading of the image by creating darker shading on the side of each and every one of my buildings and structures that faces away from the sun. As the buildings get further and further from the observer's perspective, I drew smaller and smaller buildings to add to the effect my two vanishing points create of buildings that gradually fade into the background as they emanate from the center of my work. The streets are lined with sillouhettes of the figures of people, these figures being representative of the citizens of my little city.
