Artist Statement

This artwork depicts an octopus with tentacles shaped into human hands, symbolizing its role as a protector within the marine world. Just as some small fish and crustaceans seek shelter within an octopus’s den, the hand-like tentacles evoke warmth, safety, and guardianship, transforming the octopus into a nurturing presence rather than a solitary predator. The imagery highlights the duality of the octopus—both powerful and gentle.

I focused on putting textures on the hand, added a lot of veins and wrinkles.
