Artist Statement

This work showcases the mutualistic relationship between zooxanthellae and coral. The 50 small mouths attached to the coral reflect the nature of coral polyps, where they help capture plankton and organic material in the water. The coral structure emerges from a gaping mouth, highlighting the dual nature of coral survival.

I focused on the details of individual mouth's color and texture.
