Artist Statement

This artwork explores how flowers can represent emotions that people often hide or struggle to express. I used drypoint printmaking by scratching two flowers into a plastic plate and printing the design onto paper. I experimented with different backgrounds, colors, and textures to see how they could change the mood of the artwork. The dark lines and drooping petals create a sense of sadness and loneliness, while the softer colors and patterns add contrast. This connects to my sustained investigation by exploring how flowers can visually communicate human emotions that are not always obvious on the surface.
