Artist Statement
I used ASC-II symbols and corresponded each symbol to a certain luminance value in the image. This created a juxtaposition between digital artifacts and the culture and nature of Palau. In each frame, the digitalized areas take up half of the image’s space, creating this balance that I believe is the tension between mass media and nature. This piece serves as a reminder that we can find the tension between the techonlogically advancing world and nature.
