Artist Statement
For this assignment I designed a space sanctuarystation that would be located on mars with the urpose of providing a living space for humans and allowing them to connect with aspects of Earth. My decision for a space station that would be located on Mars was inspired by the movie "The Martian". For the space station I placed solar panels on the roof of it as a way to give power to the entirety of the station allowing its inhaitants to use it, I also placed some trees within the station as a way to give the inhabitants air and an Earth-like atmosphere that would help them connect to Earth and its spaces. I also placed some modern buildings into the station to allow the people residing in the station to live in a space that would be more familar to them rather than alien. I used honey-comb pattern windows on two sides of the station and metallic materials for the rest of the structure.
