Artist Statement
We made soft slab constructed bowls, which means that the bowl was made from one slab and then we folded it. Our artist model was Lakyn Bowman, so we modeled our process and bowls after her work. We used textured stamps to make ridges into the clay then put it together. After it was fired, we used the underglaze paintings we made and transferred it onto the bowl. Then we did sgraffito (carving small lines into the clay) and painted some glaze onto the bowl. We then wiped the glaze off, leaving the glaze just in the sgraffito lines. Lastly, we glazed the inside of the bowl and fired it again. I think it turned out super cool. :)
