Artist Statement
For this assignment, I designed a hybrid space inspired by the Arc de Triomphe beneath the Arc itself. I placed a couple of special statues, sculptures, and art pieces on display on identical tables placed against the wall opposite of the museum entrance, adding a couple of lights on the ceilings adjacent to the art pieces. Additionally, I placed two paintings on the wall to the right of that and added ropes separating the two areas. Then, I placed larger sculptures in the middle of the small museum, making sure that I left space for people to walk through and added lights for the two paintings. For the entrance to the museum I put two modern escalators, one going up and one going down in order to add a more futuristic touch to the museum. To finish up, I adjusted the placement of the items within the museum making sure they were organized and complemented each other and then I chose a white marble material for the walls and ceiling to add more of the past to the museum. I decided to design a museum for this assignment because the Arc itself is a historical building built from a long time ago, so I felt that the idea of a modern museum would be the perfect hybrid of past and present considering it preserves historical artifacts and includes aspects of modern society.
