Artist Statement
In this project, I created my own sacred space by designing a large building with four floors. Each floor has a different purpose, and together, they create a place where I feel comfortable and at peace. The first floor is the lobby. It has a big front desk, six chairs for people to sit and relax, and a few cabinets for storage. I got the idea of making a lobby from hotels, because I think it looks nice and makes the space feel welcoming. There are stairs between each floor so people can easily move up and down.
The second floor is a living room. It has a TV, a small table, and a sofa, making it the perfect place to relax and watch something or just hang out. The third floor is a dining and chatting area. There is a large table in the center with six chairs around it, perfect for eating together or having conversations with friends or family. Each floor has a light on the ceiling, making sure the space is bright enough for everyone to see.
The fourth and final floor is my own room. It’s similar to my real-life room, giving me a personal space to relax and be myself. It has a desk for studying, a soft and comfy chair, and a bed with two cabinets beside it for extra storage. I chose to make my sacred space a building because I wanted it to be as big as possible, with different areas for different activities, all in one peaceful place.
