Artist Statement
For this project, I wanted to include the concept of tube corals in an architectural aspect. I played with the idea of a structure on the water to further emphasize the connection of ocean life such as coral to architectural structures. Here, I further developed my sub-d skills which is what allowed me to create more complex multi-layered objects such as the umbrella-like structure. I purposefully used the color purple since a special element of tube coral is their unique color. I also included the umbrella-like structure which was integrated with ideas of coral reefs as seen in the overall structure, color, and texture.
