Artist Statement
I started with another photo of a Robot as a refrence and sketched out my own Robot design (Joey). I really liked the idea of a tiny robot that had been stuck in nature, and that's why there are vines all over Joey's body. Another thing I hadn't noticed till the later part of this project was how Joey looked like a praying mantis because of his long arms, black eyes, and antenni (wires and lights); which I also really liked. I used a lot of subdividing and extrusions during this project to achieve that smooth and also clunky texture that I achieved in this project. The colors are meant to be oxidized copper, and there's just a little bit of rust from rain and erosion.
