Artist Statement
While making this piece I was thinking a lot about the connection I have to the artwork. I think the fact that it was in Spain, reminded me of Chile, not because of the architechure or the culture, but the fact that it is Spanish, and I wanted to be able to express a nostalgic and calm feeling to this piece. Throughout the entire process I was reminded and brought back to when I was there, and how simple things were.
A few issues I had with this piece was the lighting and the shading, specifically the color of them and not making everything the exact same shade, because then it would look all flat. I think that I was able to acomplish this in a few places, however I still had issues on the bottom right corner with the houses. While I do not thing that it is completly done, as there are still a few things I wish to continue to work on and make it even better, I was able to reach a place in my piece that I was satisfied with.
