Artist Statement
Though I thought it looked like sesame shaved ice with coconut like condensed milk, the criques on my art piece, despite it being my first time experiencing the feel of acrylic paint, was quite positive to a sufficient extent. I recieved positive remarks on how the light was rather physical as I added thicker paint from the beginning, how the light shined through the masks, however I thought I could've spread the masks out a bit more and make the light not shine through as much, and how it sort of gave them a impression of purgatory with obscure skulls at the bottom of the mountian. Some improvements that could've been made were how the journal looks like a Bible rather than the intended look of a journal, and I could be more thorough if I tried painting a pen or a sufficient writing utensil for that specfic type of notebook depending on how I percieve the paper type to be.
