Artist Statement
I was inspired to make this piece ny a Mayan mask and an Aztec mask. I wanted to merge the two together. I made a Mayan mask first and then made the Aztec mask over the Mayan one. When I fired the piece it exploded because it was too thick. I then had to glue the pieces back together and ended up painting over it because I couldn't fire it again.
