Artist Statement
This design is created to tackle the luggage issue of Hong Kong Taxis. Every time I put luggage in the back of the car, there is always not enough space and the driver closes the trunk door with a rope. This practice, though very authentic, I believe, there are some security and safety issues. My design attempts to solve this issue by putting the entire weight of the car seats and engines in the back, and making a storage space in the front of the car. The suitcases will be stored in the front space of the car, allowing them to be stored safely. Since there is now a "dent" in the front of the car, there is sufficient space to store the suitcases. To maintain the local Hong Kong culture, I made the exterior design keep the iconic red taxi details.
