I redesigned the school based off problems I've noticed while here and inspirations that I garnered while touring college campuses. One of the biggest annoyances I've noticed in the school is that high school students taking world languages and robotics classes have to cross the entire campus, often within 5 minute intervals. To solve this, I rearranged the buildings around a central courtyard, with lower, middle, and upper school each taking a side of the square. The fourth side houses the auditorium, arts classrooms, and cafeteria. The robotics tech cube is also accessible from that side, with a direct bridge between the high school and the tech cube. Each building now has enough space to house their own language arts classrooms, negating the need for long distance travel. The cafeteria features a large covered patio and internal seating, giving students different options for where to sit. They can also sit in the central courtyard, which was inspired by the design of Syracuse and Carnegie Mellon University, which I visited over the summer. The large open green space gives students more area to hang out and hold events. Within each school level, the buildings contain more patio and internal spaces for students to study and hang out in. I moved all the athletics spaces to the same general area, making it more efficient and a stronger seperation between academics and athletics. The athletics building has 3 floors, giving plenty of space for a workout room, large gym spaces for each level, and swimming pools. The high school building has plenty of space for libraries and communal spaces. There's also a central skylight, allowing classrooms located deeper into the building to also recieve sunlight. As a member of the theater community, I allocated a lot of space for the auditorium, giving it enough room to have a balcony and black box theater. I also designed the building to have a large choir room, stretching two floors. This leaves 16 classrooms for the arts and prop storage, allowing the school to hold more performances if necessary.
