Artist Statement

The project idea began with the creation of a detailed 3D model of a piece of ancient architecture. Before beginning the modeling process, I made multiple observational sketches of old buildings and architectural pieces to explore structural features and stylistic elements. Afterwards, I decided to build a digital model of the Parthenon, as it looked the most interesting and offered a strong example of classical design. While making the 3D model, I focused on achieving accurate proportions, maintaining the correct column structure, and applying material textures that were based on historical references and documentation. The primary goal was to establish a precise digital reconstruction of the original architecture, replicating its main features as closely as possible. Once the base model was completed and verified for accuracy, I decided to modify it by converting the structure into a functional dining hall, inspired by the concept of a grand, Hogwarts-style dining space, while preserving all the original architectural elements. Instead of replacing or removing the colonnade, the original structure was fully retained to maintain its historical integrity. The idea was to create a spacious interior reminiscent of the vast and dramatic dining halls seen in fantasy settings, using the Parthenon's existing form as the framework. The inner chamber was cleared and repurposed as an open dining area, with seating layouts optimized for capacity, comfort, and efficient circulation. Structural reinforcements were digitally added where necessary to meet modern safety standards without altering the visual integrity of the columns and entablature. The flooring was changed to a durable and modern material resembling stone to ensure practicality for maintenance and use. Overall, the modifications focused on adapting the ancient structure to a contemporary function while maintaining its original aesthetic and architectural significance.
