Artist Statement
How can the human form depict the processes of growing up, aging, and memory disintegration? What visual methods best express shifting identity and nostalgia shaped by growing old and coming of age? How can these depictions reveal the fragility of self over time? I want my investigation to explore how identity can be shaped and unraveled as people grow up and grow old. My grandpa's struggle with Alzheimers has reflected a lot of the uncertainties I've faced as I come to age. The both of us are searching for who we used to be, who we are, and who we want to be.
