Artist Statement
I designed my sacred space this way because it contains most of the things that I enjoy. A couch that I can lie on when I'm tired, a table with different snacks that I can eat when I'm hungry, a bookshelf with books that I can read, and a television that I can watch movies on when I'm bored. I used wooden material for the flooring because I really like the texture and appearance of it and also because I feel like it matches with the other furniture and items I placed in my sacred space. For the walls I used a concrete material because I believe it complements the wooden flooring and the wooden furniture. I placed two speakers next to the television because I think it goes well with the the colors and placement of the television and also how the speaker's colors contrast with the colors of the floor and walls. I added an additional speaker and curtains next to the couch because they complement each other and also to fill in the negative space. I chose to use a wooden sliding door because I think it helps to blend the two different materials of the flooring and walls. For this assignment I took inspiration from my own living room which inspired me to place the curtains, television, and couch where they currently are. For the other parts of the space that I added in, I did so because I feel like I lack those items or furniture from my own living room since I am not able to add them myself.
