Artist Statement
How can the unique behaviors of animals be used symbolically to represent the emotional experiences of a teenager? How can mixed media and organic forms found in nature be used to express the experiences of developing into teenagerhood, such as managing parental and personal expectations, or exploring personal identities? Through color, textures and unique perspectives, I want to create artwork that illustrates the feelings of stress, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed and self-discovery that come with becoming a teenager.
