Artist Statement
This is the mind map and some storyboards of my chosen theme of interest.
Inquiry Statement:
How can intuitive use of color, line, and composition transform a chaotic emotional state into a visual narrative of growth?
What effects does combining traditional brushstrokes with digital illustration have on a sense of movement and balance?
As time passed and I gained greater independence, I began to feel uncertain about my future and started resisting decisions. I feared that even if I lived a "free" life, I would still be trapped by the worries of reality, unable to escape my inner uncertainties.
In response, I sought to weave together reality and imagination, blending them with warmth and depth. In this process, the cat became a symbol of my inner self—one who suddenly finds herself in a mysterious world and starts on a journey of confronting her fears, while exploring this world alone.
Digital illustration allows me to combine flat compositions with abstract elements that reflect the fluidity of consciousness and capture the precious memories shaped by different places. I draw inspiration from analyzing the works of other artists and thinking about my own thoughts and emotions. I often revise the image in my mind repeatedly before committing to pencil sketches. From there, I move into Procreate to refine the line art and fill the colors in. Later, I plan to incorporate traditional media, like watercolor and acrylic, exploring how different textures can evoke sensory experiences.
