Artist Statement
This is a mind map of my interests and drawing ideas. I am not settled yet but my sustained investigation most likely explores composition of light or color, and how it can evoke different emotions or the passage of time.
My sustained investigation explores how the lines between dream and reality are blurred, as well as how this can be expressed visually. Dreams are the result of memories and illusion, mirroring one’s thoughts and emotions. Through the use of color, light, and abstract visuals, I aim to reflect a sense of altered perception and a calming fantasy. My goal is to create work that evokes gentleness and peace, encouraging individuals to embrace and reflect on the beauty of dreamlike moments or fantasies that shape their inner worlds.
Throughout my sustained investigation, I utilized soothing and dreamlike imagery by experimenting with transparency, composition, and soft colors. I revised my work throughout the process by adjusting how I showcased light, layering, and texture in order to achieve a sense of calmness and surrealness. Each piece thus reflects my growth to express the fluid boundaries between dreams and reality through continuously refining my visual choices.
