Artist Statement

Introduction: In this blog post, I have chosen three historical, distinct ceramic works that includes linear motifs from three museums through their online website. By doing so, I am exploring how artists use line to create structure and convey symbolic meanings, which I will later take inspiration from in my own works.

Conclusion: After my research, I have learned that linear motifs are not only limited to the outer structure of the artwork, but also the designs on the surface and the purpose/usage. These motifs will be implemented in my artworks as I could still make round vases/pots but include straight designs or attach linear pieces.
