Artist Statement
I was commissioned to create this 30-second looping animation of a panning aquarium view of marine animals. This is to be installed in the Palau Exhibition on a large display.
There are a total of 107 animals which have been colored in by first graders, transformed alive through my animation. As you watch this animation in the viewing space, the effect is surprisingly relaxing and immersive, as if one had been looking at a real aquarium tank. I hope that the first graders become excited and jovial upon finding the fish that they had drawn.
