Artist Statement
For this artwork, we were challenged to recreate our neighborhood using visiting artist David Huang's technique and art style. I applied his art style with my choice of linework and quality, with an isometric perspective. I chose to combine and exclude parts of my area to bring attention to specific parts that I spent the most time in my childhood, such as the public elementary school I used to attend and the park right in front of my apartment. This ties into my sustained investigation of Taiwanese architecture and my renewed understanding and appreciation for these supposedly "ugly" metropolitan buildings.
