Artist Statement
I made this piece for my younger brother for his 15th birthday. I wanted the style to be similar to that of my Shadow of Grace piece because I feel that that piece gives a nostalgic, peaceful feel that reflects my pride of who I am. I wanted this piece to reflect how much I care for my brother and how proud I am of him. I chose a mostly red pallete because red is his favorite color. I feel that the overlap of the color pallete and reference picture I used creates the nostalgia and childlike joy that I was aiming to depict. The title is meant to be somewhat ironic, in that the piece depicts a very happy moment between the two of us while the title criticizes him. Me and my siblings are like any other siblings who fight and bicker and annoy each other. I feel this title highlights that even when we fight and bug each other, we still love and have fun with each other.
