Artist Statement
Create a short prototype that explores the production techniques that contribute to the specific style and tone we are hoping to achieve. Focus on how visual, audio, and narrative elements—such as cinematography, sound design, and editing—work together to create the desired result. Submit the prototype along with a brief (200-300 word) explanation of your choices and how you plan to improve on the next iteration.
Things I could improve on:
- When filming: don’t cut, just keep rolling because the person on screen might be doing something and you never know what you’ll end up needing when editing
- Adjust exposure settings prior to filming
- Make sure handheld footage is not too shaky when filming
- When filming: make sure the focus is clear
- When filming: make sure to not film the other camera person filming the same thing or else it looks unprofessional and like a sloppy job
- When filming in Palau: make sure to hide the microphones
- If I had more time, I would definitely do some color grading
- Before editing: just make sure we have enough footage to edit with! We can’t use the same exact clip twice or else that looks weird and sloppy
