Artist Statement
I made three small paintings as an experiment before I started my big 'Something of Meaning' painting. I wanted to study the parts I was unsure of from my reference, so I picked the sea, the sea urchin, and the coral. Doing this study made me more aware of what to do with the watercolor to get it to do what I want, and I'm proud of how the studies came out. I learnt that the watercolor won't always do what you want: the blue sea urchin came out different than I thought it would due to adding too much water, but I was happy with the reuslt nonetheless.
