Artist Statement
Although teapots were created with the purpose to hold and serve tea, they can also be a medium of art. To me, the shape of a teapot conjures feelings of tranquility and whimsy. To enhance this I included elements such as the wrapped handle and a star on the spout. To facilitate the idea of tranquility, I painted the Teapot blue and yellow, colors that to me, when combined, elicit serenity. I hope that though this teapot is unable to serve tea, that it can serve the purpose of invoking tranquility. This is a photo of it before the second firing.
