Artist Statement
In the piece, a girl embraces her younger self one final time as it disintegrates and fades into a starry sky.
This piece acknowledges how as one moves into new chapters of their lives, pieces and memories from their past will inevitably fade.
The night sky was inspired by Van Gogh's Starry Night, as I learned that he painted it from memory and thus became more dreamlike. I believed that this would work well with my theme of memories changing as one grows up.
